- Respiratory tract infection and asthma is a leading cause of morbidity among school children
- Biomass fuel for domestic cooking is an important risk factor for childhood respiratory infections and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease in women
- Pulmonary thromboembolism is a frequent cause of sudden death
- Occupational exposure to dusty fumes is prevalent without adequate protective measures
